Matariki

Matariki, Matariki,
Whiti, whiti mai,
Anei matou, o Mokopuna e.

This is the waiata that we learnt for Matariki.  Koka Kylie wrote it and Whaea Pat sent Matariki and Jada from room 20 to teach it to us.  We performed it at Junior school assembly and we taught it to everybody!  We enjoying singing it so much that we even sing it when we're walking down to the hall.

We won Best Class at Junior Assembly too!

Thank you Feed the Need!

This week we started the "Winter Boost Lunch Programme" from the very generous people at Feed the Need.  Our whole school gets a delicious hot lunch two days a week!  On Tuesday we had a pumpkin/bacon soup with a roll and on Thursday we had beef/vege stew and a roll.  We are so fortunate to be part of this amazing programme!

Gagana Samoa

We had a fantastic Samoan Language week.  Our highlight was the Samoan Independence Day celebrations on Friday.  There were some amazing performances from Tupulaga, other classes and of course us!  The teachers even had to siva with their certificate and ula lole winners, that was fun.  Everybody looked so bright and colourful too.
Talofa room 14!  Congratulations Chrisda!

Dav Pilkey

Last weekend Whaea Donna took her son and daughter to the Auckland Writers Festival.  They went to see the amazing author Dav Pilkey - he created the awesome Captain Underpants books!  They had to line up for over two hours but it was totally worth it!  Check out his website for lots of cool games and info http://www.pilkey.com/

Le Aute

We are going to perform an item at the special Samoan assembly next week.  Our song is called Le Aute.  It is a song all about the beautiful flowers of Samoa and how you wear them.  We have been practicing with Room 1, Room 12 and Room 26.  We know the words and next we need to learn the actions.  Whaea Donna is also learning how to play it on the ukelele.

Chocolate Crackles

We made Chocolate Crackles!  We only needed chocolate, coconut and rice bubbles.  We used Whaea Hinemoa's element and Whaea Donna's pot and pan.  Once the chocolate had set they were ready to eat and they were delicious!

Mother's Day photos

We had individual photos for our Mother's Day posters.  We wanted our mums, aunties and Nanas to see our best and most beautiful smiles!
Bella, Tevita, Jethro, Keilana and Jono
Tayla, Dezyire, Memory, Shanika and Crucial
Samantha, Haizley, Skylah, Donnell and Stephanie
Chrisda, Paps, Hale, Vika and Ismae

Feijoa Ice Cream

Whaea Donna brought this massive tub of feijoa's to school and we made feijoa ice cream!!
Cutting, scooping, eating and collecting all the yummy feijoas!

After mixing with Vanilla ice cream and refreezing we finally get to eat it!

YUM!!!  We loved our ice cream, even our visitors from Rm10 enjoyed it!
