Term One 100% Attendance!

Congratulations to Phyu, Folola and Josie for coming to school every single day in the first term!

ANZAC Poppies

ANZAC day is in the holidays this year so we made and wore our poppies on the last day of school.

Clean Up Time!

We worked hard cleaning our classroom, furniture and windows for the end of the term - we are proud of the results!

Fun Times in Room 14!

We watched Kung Fu Panda and ate lots of delicious food at our shared lunch and movie day.  Thank you to everyone for bringing food to share!

Fiafia Night!

Room 14 joined up with room 13 and room 1 to perform two items for the Fiafia night.  "We are Awesome Clendon Park School" is a song written by Matua Richard and we made up the actions.  "To Ringa ki Roto" is one of our fun Maori action songs that we like to sing.  Everyone wore their own cultural clothes or something from the school's selection.  It was very exciting and a little bit scary to perform in front of a huge crowd but we did magnificently!!

Last Swim for the Term!

It was a little bit cold but we had a great pool party for our last swim of the term.  We had music and lots of things in the pool - noodles, flutter boards, life vests, hoops and beans (to dive for)

Happy Easter!

We had a special Easter celebration with Easter crowns and Easter treats!

Computer time!

On Thursday afternoon we have time on the laptops.  We go on to our blog, do topic work and practice our literacy skills.  We are getting better at logging in and going on to the websites independently.  We really enjoy seeing stories, videos and pictures of ourselves!

Party Time!

It was Zarrah-Lee's birthday and her family came in to give us all special treats and yummy cake.  Thank you so much Zarrah-Lee and whanau!

Best Class at Junior Assembly!

Congratulations room 14 - we were awarded this certificate because we were sitting up quietly and keeping our hands and feet to ourselves.  Now we get to have the playground all to ourselves!

Remarkable Writers!

Congratulations to Makanesi, Kayani and Blaze for their remarkable writing!  They were sent to Mrs Dawson to receive a golden principal sticker for their great stories.  Blaze and Kayani wrote about their taonga and Makanesi described what he saw in the picture of the park.

Making our Taonga

Here are some photos of each group making their Taonga, we were given the same amount of clay - some people made one and others made many.  Each design started with a sausage shape and then we twisted, curled and decorated them with our hands and a kebab stick.  We also had a little bit of water to keep the clay smooth.  We were excited to see them after the weekend, they had hardened and were ready to paint.

Our Taonga

We made our very own taonga (treasure)  We looked online to see what taonga looked like and what they meant.  Whaea Donna also explained what her taonga means and how special it is to her.  Traditionally these pendants are made from bone, pounamu or wood - we made ours from air dry clay.  When they were dry we painted them and after they were photographed we wrapped them up and took them home.  Some people gifted theirs to family and some wore them to school.  The look really awesome!

Totara Park

We had our annual term one CPS trip to Totara Park and for most of our class it was the first time going with the school.  We had a busy day going on the bus, running relays, walking up the hill to the big playground, walking back over the bridge and through the bush, having a swim, having a sausage sizzle picnic, going to the other playground and coming back to school for some nice cold iceblocks.  It was great to see so many families there to enjoy the day with us.  Here is a slide show of our adventures.

100% Attendance

Week 2, Term 1 and we are have our first day of 100% attendance.  Let's keep it up room 14!  We'd like to introduce everyone in our class and the names of our groups.  We also used these photos for our farewell cards to Miss Breen and Whaea Simone.
